Manchester bike shops
Most of my bike blogging has now moved to the On Two Wheels blog for the Manchester Evening News. One set of posts I'd like to share here is my ongoing guide to Manchester's bike shops. There's been a lull in posts on the subject but I will get back to it when my routine allows it and the weather improves. There's also a map of Manchester's bike shops to go with the posts. As you can see, at the moment everything mrked on it is in the city centre or close to a route south from it along Oxford/Wilmslow Road. Again, this is something I'll try to remedy when I can get back out there hunting for other bike shops.

MySociety travel-time maps
MySociety is a not-for-profit group that runs several projects. One of them has been mapping travel times in London. they've updated these maps recently to make them interactive. You can map public transport travel times against average cost of houses to find the best places to live (based upon certain work addresses). They also have a map showing where it is faster to cycle rather than take public transport assuming you're heading for teh Department of Transport (There are very few places where public transport is faster).Technorati tag: Cycling

The 2 Mile Challenge
Clif Bar are having a 2 mile challenge. As 40% of motor journeys in the US are less than two miles, the challenge is to get out of your car and walk that distance instead. There's even a map, which will help you find, and suggest, facilities within a 2 mile radius of your home. It works for Britain as well. Once I remembered to preface it Manchester so that I didn't get a result on a motorway, it managed to get close to casa Spinneyhead.Technorati tag: Cycling
